Engagement

Engagement encompasses all interactions your content receives—likes, comments, shares, saves, clicks, reactions, views, and even dwell time. It's the holy grail of social media because engagement signals that your content resonates, algorithms reward engagement with increased reach, and engaged audiences convert to customers at much higher rates than passive ones.

Vanity metrics like follower count mean nothing without engagement. An account with 100,000 followers and 100 likes per post has a 0.1% engagement rate—terrible. An account with 5,000 followers and 500 likes per post has a 10% engagement rate—excellent. Quality engagement beats quantity every time. Different engagement types carry different weight: shares typically rank highest (requiring maximum effort and indicating strong endorsement), then saves, then comments, then likes.

Platforms continuously adjust how they weight each type. Improving engagement means creating content worth engaging with—asking questions that invite responses, providing value that warrants saving, creating shareability through entertainment or usefulness. Authentic engagement builds over time through consistency, relevance, and genuine audience understanding. Build real engagement with GTRsocials.
